Welcome to the Saltbox!
Sometimes I think that I was born in the wrong era. Don’t get me wrong–I don’t think God makes mistakes–but He will be the first to tell you that I would have done well in simpler times. But He set me here, in this era, most likely knowing that I would never survive without indoor plumbing.
I’m Stephanie, your host and humble servant. Owner of the quaintest “saltbox colonial” home that we are slowly renovating ~ there’s always coffee in the mug and a project on the burner. My history is steeped in architecture; it was once my full-time living and will forever remain my passion. I set aside my career at a remodeling firm to raise my babies and adventure into the uncharted waters of home education. My husband and I are high school sweethearts and we are raising a rowdy, dashingly handsome trio of men here in this saltbox. And I’m pretty sure they’re going to break it.
I do not own a smart phone, and my favorite stores are antique shops. That pretty much sums me all up in one sentence.
My hope is that you find peace and encouragement in this space. Join me in my quest for all things beautifully simple ~ through rocking-chair-style reflections, practical tales of purposeful motherhood, and constant reminders that YOU are a living piece of history–with a divine purpose. I’m so glad we share this era.
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.” (Matthew 5:13)
Welcome to the Saltbox, friend! I hope you’ll stay awhile.
